Pfc Lawrence H. Van Art attended high school for 3 years before he volunteered for the Army of the United States in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 4 February 1942.
He was a prisoner of war since 19 September 1944 in Stalag III-C in Drewitz, Germany.
He died in a Russian hospital in Landsberg, Germany.
