Pvt Arthur F. Wegert enlisted at Fort Thomas, Newport, Kentucky on 24 February 1944. He attended East Night High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. Pvt Wegert was trained as a meteorologist in a field artillery observation unit at Ft. Sill, Okla., but before going overseas in November, 1944, was transferred to the provisional infantry. He entered the Army the preceding February.
He was a clerk before he enlisted.
