More information

John enlisted in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania on 30 January 1942. He attended high school for 1 year. After being in 6 campaigns with the 26th Infantry Regiment, on October 10th 1944 John didn't show up for roll call, and there was no report that he was evacuated to a field hospital. John was officially listed as " Missing In Action". In February 1945, a civilian policeman from Haaren found the remains of an American soldier and buried them in a shallow grave, marked with his helmet. In 1946, the Americans retrieved the remains, and through dental records it was positively determined that John Kosczuk's status would be changed to "Killed In Action".
