Pvt Joseph E. Richard attended Catholic Institute of Portland and worked for the Winslow Pottery Company.

He enlisted in Portland, Maine on 27 June 1942. He was veteran of the North African and Sicilian Campaigns. He landed in Franceon D-Day.
