Pfc Willis E. Pickell was employed in the Northern Lumber Company.

He enlisted on 17 July 1942 and received his basic training at Fort Francis E. Warren, Wyoming and Fort George G. Meade, Kentucky.

He saw action in North Africa, where he was reported missing in action but returned to duty.
