Pvt Richard O. Miller enlisted at Fort George G. Meade, Maryland on 17 March 1944.

He was a carpenter before he enlisted.

Pvt Miller went missing in action on 5 December 1944, on the first day his unit was taken out off the front line in the vicinity of Jungersdorf-Merode, Hürtgen Forest, Germany, to move to a resting place in Aubel, Belgium.

Pvt Richard O. Miller is remembered at Blue Ridge Cemetery in Thurmont, Frederick County, Maryland with a memorial marker.
