T/5 George B. Piper was employed by the Railway Express Agency.

He enlisted at Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia on 3 July 1943 and received his training in Verona, New Jersey, Camp Stewart, Georfia, Camp Gruber, Oklahoma, and Fort Meade, Maryland. He was sent overseas in March 1945.
