Pvt Austin S. Frost Jr. enlisted in Albany, New York on 8 March 1943. He attended high school for 3 years.He was wounded in action on January 24, 1945 while administering first aid to a wounded soldier. At that time his unit was South of Büllingen, Belgium He attended Rhinebeck schools and received a war diploma from the Rhinebeck Central School at commencement in 1943. He was a member of the high school basketball team, a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Wurtemburg and a member of the Lutheran Brotherhood. Pvt Frost trained at Camp Pickett, Virginia, and Fort Dix, New Jersey. He was sent overseas in February, 1944 and served with a medical detachment of the 15th General Hospital in Wales, Scotland, England and Belgium. He had been slightly wounded on November 18, 1944 in Belgium, but he had recovered and was returned to active duty with his medical detachment.
