More information

Pfc Austin L. Reynolds entered the Army April 16, 1943, and was attached to the 69th Division at Camp Shelby, Mississippi. He then volunteered as a replacement with the Medical Detachment of the First Division with which he went overseas.

From 1928 to 1931, Pvt Reynolds was a member of the regular Army attached to the 16th Infantry at Fort Jay. For nine years he was a member of the 198th Coast Artillerynat Newark.

While home on furlough in June, Pvt Reynolds was restless, and rather than "sit and do nothing" went to work at the Kaumagraph Company where his brother Burton was employed.

Pvt Reynolds was assisting some medical soldiers in building a dug-out in Hurtgen Forest, when he was killed by enemy artillery shell fragments.
