Sgt Samuel V. Dominick attended high school for two years before he volunteered for the Army of the United States at Fort Thomas Newport, Kentucky on 12 February 1942.

He was originally assigned to the 1023rd National Guard Squadron at Napier Field and later transferred to the infantry.
