Sgt Lloyd G. Hollingshead attended high school for one year and was a metal worker.

He joined the U.S. Army Reserve in Chicago, Illinois on 28 January 1943.

He was taken prisoner of war on 23 December 1944, when his unit was defending the Sector around Bütgenbacher Heck-Dom Bütgenbach in Belgium. He died in Stalag IV-B. He was officially declared dead, probably one day and one year after his actual date of death.

He is remembered at the Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.
