Pfc David L. Darnell enlisted at Camp Dodge Herrold, Iowa on 20 March 1943.

He attended high school for 4 years.

He was instantly killed by shell fragments and concussion while fighting on the field of battle against the Germans. He had graduate from Lincoln high with the class of 1941 and was employed at the Mills plumbing shop in this city.
