Sgt Adam G. Young worked on the family farm.He joined the Regular Army in Chicago, Illinois on 21 August 1940. He received basic training at Fort Ord, California and was also stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington and Fort Wayne, Detroit. After returning to Fort Lewis and Fort Ord he was transferrred to Camp Pickett, Virginia. He was sent overseas on 15 November 1942.
