1st Sgt Frederick H. Noonan enlisted in Syracuse, New Jersey on 24 April 1941. Assigned overseas early in August, Sgt Noonan had been serving with the U.S. 1st Army.

A graduate of St. Paul's School, he was employed by the Kroehler Mfg. Co. before entering the service. He received training at Camp Croft, S.C.; Fort McClellan, Ala., and Fort George Meade, Md., before being assigned overseas.
