More information

Pvt Bernard C. Helstrom joined the Regular Army in Portland, Maine on 20 November 1940. He was deployed overseas to North Africa in 1942 where he was wounded in action. He returned to battle after several months of hospitalization and participated in the Normandy invasion and was wounded a second time in October 1944. He returned to his unit in December 1944.
