S/Sgt John J. Barry was a blacksmith before he enlisted in Springfield, Massachusetts on 14 August 1942.The airplane was hit by flak that set off flares who where on board. Three crew members were taken prisoner, seven were killed who were initially buried at the community cemetery of Ölper.
