More information

The aircraft was damaged by intense flak over Bremerhaven. Over the North Sea the pilot reported the loss of two engines and that the loss of a 3rd engine was likely as the result of a fighter attack. It was last seen over the Island of Spiekeroog, Germany. In all probability, the airplane crashed or ditched in the North Sea.

The entire crew was killed in action.

S/Sgt Robert E. Corum is remembered with a memorial marker at Evergreen Cemetery in Ballinger, Runnels County, Texas.
