T/Sgt Leman R. Tutor attended Cotulla High School. He was a clerk at the Western Auto Store in Corpus Christi, Texas.

He joined the Army Air Corps on 16 November 1942 at Fort Bliss, Texas. He trained at Shepherd Field, Texas; Scott Field, Illinois; Pyote and Dalhart in Texas. He went overseas on 1 January 1944.

He was married to Berniece Jewel Mahaffey on 17 November 1943.

Their aircraft was shot down by German fighters near Haselünne. The entire crew was killed. They were initially buried at the cemetery of Quakenbruck, Germany.
