2nd Lt Edwin J. Loughran was an electrician apprentice.

He joined the Air Corps of the U.S. Army Reserve as an aviation cadet at the San Antonio Aviation Cadet Center, Texas on 11 December 1942.

Their aircraft was shot down by German fighters near Haselünne. The entire crew was killed. They were initially buried at the cemetery of Quakenbruck, Germany.
