T/Sgt Charles H. Ford was a carpenter.

He joined the Air Corps of the Regular Army at Fort McArthur, California on 20 October 1941.

A Me 109 came in at 1 o'clock low and sprayed the front of the aircraft with 20mm shells, hitting the wing tanks. The right wing and tanks began to burn.

Two crew members were taken prisoner, eight were killed.
