S/Sgt Allen D. Horton was ground keepers at Western Golf Country Club.He volunteered for the Air Corps of the Army of the United States in Detroit, Michigan on 7 November 1942.
A Me 109 came in at 1 o'clock low and sprayed the front of the aircraft with 20mm shells, hitting the wing tanks. The right wing and tanks began to burn.
Two crew members were taken prisoner, eight were killed.
