T/Sgt William C. Danielson Jr. graduated from Arlington Heights High School and immediately enlisted on 14 June 1943. In September 1943 he was transferred to Sioux Falls, South Dakota for a 20 week radio operator and mechanics course. He was graduated from this school in March and was then transferred to the flexible gunnery school at Yuma, Arizona. He was granted his gunner“s wings the end of May 1944.The airplane was attacked by a ME 262 jet. Two engines were set on fire and it dived away from the formation. The airplane then nosed up with the tail falling off and fell down spinning. One parachute was seen. Six crew members were taken prisoner, four were killed.
