More information
S/Sgt George Sneckus graduated from Lanphier High School and was a blacksmith before he enlisted in Peoria, Illinois on 10 September 1942.The airplane was attacked by enemy fighters. It is possible it was shot down, some records state that it collided with the FW 190 of 1st Lt König of I/JG 11. Due to bad weather and smoke it is uncertain if this collision concerned this B-17 or another one.
The entire crew of ten men was killed. They were buried on 27 May 1944 at the South cemetery of Neumunster.
