Sgt Charles Luquette was a sailor before he volunteered for the Air Corps of the Army of the United States in Houston, Texas on 11 November 1942.The mission was to bomb the industrial area in the suburbs of Berlin. Instead, targets of opportunity were bombed in Oranienburg.
The aircraft was shot down by enemy fighters. Seven crew members were killed, three were taken prisoner.
