2nd Lt George H. Wing graduated from Kennett High School in Conway, New Hampshire.

He joined the National Guard in Augusta, Maine on 24 February 1941.

The mission was to bomb the industrial area in the suburbs of Berlin. Instead, targets of opportunity were bombed in Oranienburg.

The aircraft was shot down by enemy fighters. Seven crew members were killed, three were taken prisoner.
