F/O Paul V. Lammers attended college and was a welder before he enlisted in Los Angeles, California on 8 January 1943.

The aircraft was attacked by enemy fighters. The left wing was shot off and broke in two at the ball turret. Six crew members were killed, four were taken prisoner.
