Sgt Bernard Sundin was a welder at Boeing Aircraft.

He enlisted on 27 February 1943 in Tacoma, Washington.

The mission was to bomb the industrial area in the suburbs of Berlin. Instead, targets of opportunity were bombed in Oranienburg.

The aircraft was shot down by enemy fighters. Seven crew members were killed, three were taken prisoner.
