More information
S/Sgt Marlyn M. Schrader graduated from Deep River High School and was an actor before he joined the Regular Army at Fort Des Moines, Iowa on 28 May 1941. He was sent overseas on 13 March 1944.The airplane was attacked by enemy fighters. It is possible it was shot down, some records state that it collided with the FW 190 of 1st Lt König of I/JG 11. Due to bad weather and smoke it is uncertain if this collision concerned this B-17 or another one.
The entire crew of ten men was killed. They were buried on 27 May 1944 at the South cemetery of Neumunster.
