2nd Lt Robert P. Kramer graduated from Fairport High school in 1937 where he played football and basketball. He attended college and was employed at Eastman Kodak Company as a chemist.He volunteered for the Air Corps of the Army of the United States in Rochester, New York on 11 March 1942. On 31 August 1943, Lt Kramer circled his bomber over Fairport and dipped his wings in farewell to his family.
Seven crew members were taken prisoner and three were killed. They were initially buried at the Catholic cemetery of Lembeck on 12 October 1943.
