T/Sgt Angelo E. Fernandez was a mechanic before he enlisted at Fort Jay, New York on 26 August 1942.

The aircraft was destroyed by fighters near Calais, France after being forced out to the formation due to flak damage. The aircraft was hit by flak just after bombs away. Gasoline immediately began to flow back across the wing and the aircraft began to fall behind the formation.
