More information

T/Sgt Samuel H. Kuntz Jr. was a armer before he volunteered for the Air Corps of the Army of the United States in Peoria, Illinois on 15 September 1942.

T/Sgt Kuntz called over the interphone that he was wounded, about one hour before the plane crashed.

The aircraft was destroyed by fighters near Calais, France after being forced out to the formation due to flak damage. The aircraft was hit by flak just after bombs away. Gasoline immediately began to flow back across the wing and the aircraft began to fall behind the formation.
