T/4 Floyd Detwiller graduated from Harding High School in 1932. He was employed at the Ralson General Store an later at the A. B. Thompson and Son Rocery.

Floyd and Lloyd Detwiler were twin brothers. His brother Richard, who was a Staff Sergeant, was reported wounded in action in Italy on 5 October 1944.
