2nd Lt Donald J. Milich graduated from High School in Boise and attended the University of Idaho until he joined the Regular Army in Moscow, Idaho on 16 May 1942. He attended Officer's Candidate School at Fort Benning in Georgia, where he was commissioned in June 1944.
