Pfc Jerome T. Brandt was married at St. John's Catholic Church to Grace Faber on 6 May 1943.

He enlisted at Fort Sheridan, Illinois on 6 October 1943 and was sent overseas on 9 June 1944.

He was seriously wounded in action in France on 27 July 1944 when he was shot through the left side of the head for which he was awarded the Purple Heart a first time. He was hospitalized in England for a month before returning to duty.

All of his brothers served during the war.
