William Curry attended college for two years and worked in a paint factory before he joined the Regular Army on 21 December 1939.

As far as can be traced, William Curry didn't have any relatives and mentioned a Mr. Harold Knapp as his guardian on official documents.

He died of a concussion and was initially buried in a temporary grave at Henri-Chapelle on 14 January 1945. He was given his final resting place on 25 August 1949.
