Pvt Patrick T. Conley enlisted in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on 15 November 1943. He joined his unit from the 48th Replacement Battalion on 20 July 1944.Six days later he was severely wounded and, after recovery, he rejoined his unit on 1 August 1944. For this wound he was awarded the Purple Heart a first time.
