Sgt Charles L. Burris attended Nevada Missouri High School.He joined his unit from the 92nd Replacement Battalion on 21 December 1944.
Pvt Burris was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service against the enemy. Near Winden, Germany on 24 November 1944, Pvt Burris with two other men, formed a bazooka team that had to get into a house next to one the that the German occupied, in order to knock out a tank that was holding up the attack of their company. They were able to get into this house and finish the tank.
