Thomas Baxter Jr. was a stock clerk with the Cadillac Company before he enlisted at Fort Custer, Michigan on 4 March 1942.He was married to Ida Zorn on 22 November 1943.
He was sent overseas in April 1944.
He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for heroic achievement from 6 to 9 August 1944 in the vicinity of St. Joseph and St. Malo, France where he made several trips to the front for his wounded battalion commander to gain vital information.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Andilly, France.
