Pfc Elmer D. Daniels worked as a farm hand.He volunteered for the Army of the United States at Camp Blanding, Florida on 18 June 1942 and was sent overseas in March. He was killed in the battle of Cherbourg in France.
The Daniels family had been an all-out army family since the war began. Sgt Hassie Daniels was stationed in England as a switchboard operator and the youngest boy, R.A. Daniels, was inducted in January 1945. His brother T/5 Herbert M. Daniels was killed in 16 December 1944 and is buried next to Pfc Daniels.
