2nd Lt Raoul W. La Pointe attended high school for four years and was employed at the Colts Patent Fire Arms Manufacturing Company before he enlisted in Hartford, Connecticut on 30 July 1942. He was sent overseas in May 1944.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Hochfelden, France.
