Pvt Charles E. Watson attended high school for one year and was a driver for Melrose Market before he enlisted in Camden, New Jersey on 29 August 1942.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments in his neck.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Hochfelden, France.
