Pvt Eugene Brightwell Jr. attended high school for one year and was employed at the Tanell Construction Company before he enlisted in Louisville, Kentucky on 21 July 1943. He was overseas for just one month when he was killed.He was killed by artillery shell fragments to his buttock and hip.
His brother Charles served in Italy.
