Pvt Jack E. Makinen was employed by the Inland Steel Company of East Chicago before he enlisted in Indianapolis, Indiana on 26 July 1943. He was sent overseas in 1 April 1944.He was killed by artillery fire.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Andilly, France.
