Pfc James J. Golden was employed at the Philadelphia Textile Finishers before he enlisted in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 12 March 1943.

He was officially declared dead one year and one day after he was reported missing in action. At that time his unit was fighting in the vicinity of Drusenheim, France.
