Pvt Frank Pecena Jr volunteered into the service as an infantryman in April 1944. He was given his basic training at Camp Hood and was later sent to Maryland and from there to New York for transportation overseas to the European front.Since October Frank Pecena served with the 79th Division.
He was engaged in farming before he entered the service.
He was reported missing in action somewhere in France on January 20, 1945. He died as Prisoner of War in a German prison camp as a result of pneumonia.
Pvt Pecena is remembered at Hranice Cemetery in Lee County, Texas with a memorial marker.
