Pfc Everett B. Pettens graduated from Eastport High School, attained a post graduate degree, and had been employed at the Westhampton Airport before he enlisted in New York City, New York on 11 December 1942. He was sent overseas in May 1944.He was killed by artillery shell fragments to his chest.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Andilly, France.
