Pfc Curtis J. Pruitt worked on a farm before he enlisted in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on 15 February 1944.

He was reported wounded in action from small arms fire on 22 January 1945 and died a day later. At that time his unit was engaged in the fighting in the vicinity of Bischwiller, France.

The exact location where he died is not known.
