T/5 Herbert M. Daniels enlisted at Camp Blanding, Florida on 4 March 1942.The Daniels family had been an all-out army family since the war began. Sgt Hassie Daniels was stationed in England as a switchboard operator and the youngest son, R.A. Daniels, enlisted in January 1945. Homer Daniels received a medical discharge from the Army. His brother Elmer D. Daniels was killed on 1 January 1944 and is buried next to him.
