Sgt Maynard M. Davis graduated from Olney Township High School. He was employed at the Olney greenhouse and at the Fessel Cleaners.He was sent overseas in 24 February 1944.
Besides his wife he left behind a seven-month old daughter he has never seen.
Sgt Maynard was believed to have been drowned when the Germans released water from the giant dams along the Roer River, which reportedly caused a heavy loss of lives among the First Army forces which were fighting below the dam in the Aachen area.
