S/Sgt John T. Harig graduated from Immaculate Conception School, Gilbertsville.

He enlisted on 8 July 1941 in Arizona where his father lived although he grew up in Iowa with his aunt, Mary Biever.

He was sent overseas in January 1944.

S/Sgt Harig was killed by a sniper.
